I just came from Cabelas located in Gonzales, LA and they had quite a few handirifles in 223 and 22-250 on the used gun racks and the Gun Library dude told me they had gotten them from Remington and that they were Demo models. The price on them was 219 or 219.99.
I picked up a handi in 357 magnum for 199.99 and might do the maximum conversion on it later.
I used to have a factory 357 maximum barrel that I had fitted at the factory along with a 223 bull barrel back in 2000 but subsequently sold them off when I got out of handi's for awhile but now I'm back.
I guess my only transgression since then has been to get a Rossi 44 mag/20 gauge combo about 2 weeks ago. I was going to get a barrel in 44 magnum but after calling Remington and told that none were in stock and not wanting to wait 6 months for one to come in a be fitted, I bought the Rossi.
Anyways, maybe a Cableas in your area can do a transfer or check at your local Cableas and see if they have any of these handi's for sale on the used gun racks.
Normally most things are over priced on the used gun racks but from time to time there are bargains to be had.
