At long last I was able to grab a 357 without having to buy a combo. ;D

Yes, Quick is right there sporting the syn stock. It's going to be swapped out for a Boyd's thumb hole job I bought a year ago just for this auspicious occasion.  ;D

was just at the Gander MT  up here and they had 2 SB1 framed .357, for 219.00  as well as a camo 444, a BC and a .44mag sb2 and various other nice handis.

ahhh if I had the cash atm, Id be sittin out this blizzard cleaning a bunch of new toys, instead of on the computer talking about it.

For $219.00 for a SB1 357 I would say they are ripping you off.  Here in AZ a new 12 or 20 gauge SB1 is $117.00, that leaves $102 for the 357 Barrel, so they should be selling you the 357/12 gauge combo for the $219 they are asking for only the 357.  Larry

I can get the shotguns for about that price here as well, but from what i have seen the .357 is in line with everywhere else ive seen, cheaper than buds even, they list the combo for 270.00

dunno I just have never seen the .357 sb1 for under 200.00

If you look at the factory costs of the barrels, the SB1 357 should be about $170.00 or so.  Larry

Barrel accessory program

.357 barrel $96
Ship your stock and SB1 receiver to H&R $15 (estimate)
Shipping back to you $19
Fitting $25
Hammer extension $10

Total $165 just to put a .357 barrel with a scope base and no sights on your shotgun receiver, and you still don't even have a Monte Carlo stock.

$219 ain't right (shotgun barrel are $55; ie $41 less than a rifle barrel), but it ain't a bad alternative.

if you put it that way, I quess 54.00 isnt bad for a receiver and a stock set.
Thats the main reason I buy the whole gun, why wait, why spend 165.00 to get a barrel when just a bit more can get me the whole shebang, granted im not figuring taxes, but still a better deal to me.

also I dont think Id trust illion to deliver my laundry much less get my gun back to me right, if they can muff up a simple stock order 3 times, id hate to see what they can do on a rifle.  :P

If you think it's a rip off, don't buy it.  Jeez, what other .357 mag rifle can you get for less than $250?

Then go buy a Rossi and quite bellyaching.  $219 for a made in USA gun is cheap and hardly a rip-off.

The reason that they are in business is to make money for their stockholders, not to help you fill up your gunsafe.    If you don't like the price, then don't buy it.  :-)
