OK...not too sound like a fool, BUT....what the heck is a .357 max???  I'm no rifle guru, but do have an inquiring mind.

 It is a 357 mag brass lenthed about 0.30 or 0.32 inches longer.
 Works real well in a Handi rifle. Datil

.357 Maximum.  Its been around for 27 years or so and is a "pistol cartridge",  ...an elongated .357Magnum.

Is it a "handload only" round??  If you ream the barrel to 357max, can they still shoot the 357mag?

I notice is has a "size xl" following but wasn't sure why barrels were factory chambered for it with such a large following.
