It goes to show you when you stop respecting firearms and you get careless with them in can result in real
tragedy.
"This guy and a buddy were sighting their rifles in. One of the guns was leaned up against the 4 wheeler he was standing on. The gun started to fall and I'm not sure if his buddy grabbed it, or something on the bike caught the trigger. Either way, he caught a 325 grain .45-70 round right under the collar bone."
Here is a little tip: Don't ever lean a gun up against anything if it has a round in the chamber and is ready
to fire. If you are not ready to line the firearm up on something and shoot, the firearm should be unloaded with the action open. Anyone with any sense should know that. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy the guy survived, but that was a case of just plain stupid gun handling. The guy that leaned the loaded ready to fire 45-70 up against the 4X4, Had he been drinking or something? Or was he just born stupid? I don't know about you guys, but if I am out shooting at a range and I see someone handling firearms in an unsafe manner I immediately let them know that they are putting other people's lives in danger and it won't be tolerated by me. I've hurt peoples feelings by doing this but I don't care. I'd ratherhurt 100 people's feelings than to have someone needlessly hurt or worse from carelessness and stupidity.
All of this is taught in hunter safety classes.
