45-70 Kick
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:14:38 AM »
I own and shoot benelli's with 3 inch buckshot loads, am familiar with slugs from a wingmaster, and shoot a 300WSM/180 grain.  How bad is the NEF in the 45-70 shooting the weak Remington factory ammunition?  With a 4X FXII Leup, what danger for scope eye with this combo if any?

Not as bad as those shotgun loads you are using. 8)

Remington factory loads are pretty tame. Especially the 405's.
To seize the opportunity of a lifetime you must do so within the lifetime of that opportunity.

It won't kick at all compared to the other's you have.
You'll feel silly for worrying about it after you pull the trigger. ;)

The 405 Rem.s are less recoil than my 20 ga.  My 12 yr. old grand daughter even tried a couple.  Now if you load this thing up, the recoil goes up too.  I have a few loaded that will make you wonder if you wouldn't rather just hand to paw with the Grizzley........ :o

Stop in and shot my Ruger #1 Tropical in 458 Win Mag with 500gr solids and then shoot my Handi in 45-70. You will wonder if the Handi even went off after the #1..............  ;D
