internal receiver rust
« on: January 03, 2010, 06:02:36 AM »
I stripped my Sidekick receiver after season for a good cleaning and found quite a bit of surface rust inside the receiver. The inside did seem to be blued very well. I plan on giving the exterior a Rustoleum  paint job, any suggestions for coating/protecting the inside of the receiver from re-occurring rust, would a cold blue work?

I have had good luck wit Blue Wonder gun cleaner and 0000 steel wool to remove surface and pitting rust.  Blue Wonder also makes a easy to use  gun blue.  Check it out.  www.bluewonder.us

Blue Wonder is a good product. I still would wipe a little Kroil or CLP after cleaning to prevent rust. You can use both products inside and out for long or short term storage.
