Probably old news, but...
« on: January 16, 2010, 10:04:36 AM »
...just saw the new stainless .270 & .30-06 Handis on the H&R1871 website. I knew about the stainless .45-70 with laminate stocks, but these other two must be new for 2010. I'm guessing we'll see more and more stainless offerings?

They aren't new, they're the same model numbers they've offered for many years, they have stainless barrels with matte nickel frames,  they discontinued the 223 and 243 stainless models last year.  ::) The thumbhole SS Ultra Hunters are the only offerings with stainless frames.  :-\

Oh, OK. Thanks, Quick. The only stainless model, barrel and/or frame, in the 2009 catalog was the 45-70. I haven't been into Handi's long enough to know much about prior models, so I appreciate your expertise here.

They were considering adding more stainless frames for 2010, but the only changes they've made are the 35 Whelen to be available again and the new Handi-Grip stocks. But there's still hope, big retailers like Dick's and Gander and/or distributors can special order just about anything they want as long as they order enough of them, 250 for common chamberings or 500 for the more uncommon. But the big catch on the SS frame is cost, the SS Ultra Hunters in 45-70 and 444 sell for over $400, of course they have laminated thumbhole stocks too, but the frame adds close to $100 over a blued frame and barrel.

Say 50 guns  -- and greybeard outdoor marking,, all  orders,, prepayed..........and sent to our FFL

About what would the price be?

Of course this wouldn't be the 500 like the big store chain..                        Dan

250 is the minimum for a special order, and it must be done by a retailer or distributor.
