nice lookin gun, new for only $280, great deal, i wish i wasn't broke so i could buy it lol
figured i'd post it since h&r isn't making .45 LC barrels currently, maybe someone will be interested

Thats a better price than the one I just got. I got one from Elliot Bros and they still have many in stock and all HX ser#

Could just be a bad photo but I think the butt has been replaced. I see no checkering onit.

I bought mine new a few weeks ago on gunbroker a "Buy it Now" for 275.00.  It cost me 304.00 with everything.

How are these shooting? Decent groups? Recoil on that thin curved buttplate?

I've only put mine on paper with a red dot cause the weather has been so rotten.  I didn't notice any recoil worth mentioning, but I was shooting from inside insulated coveralls.  It might be a tad different in a tee shirt. ::)

Reason I ask is, I had a Spanish version of the Rem. Rolling Block carbine in 44 Mag. The Buttplate was not unlike the H&R. Even with reduced lead bullet loads (ie, 44 spl) it was a kicker while in a summer shirt. Surprised me to be so. With black powder loads it was OK, but smokeless was painful in a 50 shot match.

I've shot max level 250 grain loads from the Ruger-T/C section of the Lyman manual out of mine and felt no recoil to speak of. I'm a recoil wimp when it comes to rifles (one of the reasons why I went with the .45 Colt in the first place) and it doesn't bother me at all. My 20 gauge Pardner is much worse when it comes to recoil.

The stock is checkered, it's just hard to see.

They shoot fine, muzzle rise was what I noticed the most with  250gr +P loads at 1900fps, after rechambering to 460S&W I put it in a gray laminated monte carlo set tho, the drop of the BC stock is considerable, not so obvious on a 28" or 32" barrel but with the short barrel and hot loads, it's noticeable from the bench. A nice Galco or lace on leather slip-on pad will tame the steel butt.  ;)

Yeah but don't forget that if the seller is out of state you'll have to pay shipping and FFL charges.  That's the problem with auction sites.  It's always tempting to buy when you see a good price but if it's not in the same state and can't do a face to face, it ends up costing about $50 to $70 more.   At least that's the way it is in Illinois, the land of the FOID.
