Where would YOU go? (II)
« on: August 22, 2003, 07:24:35 AM »
I posted this on the hunting forum also, but I want some fishermen's opinions as well:
I was told that my birthday/christmas present this year will be a hunting/fishing trip of my choice. The only restriction will be that I have a limit of $500 on the deal. I'm pretty much located in the middle of the continental US, so I could get about anywhere in no more than 2 days of driving. Well, I know I could backpack and flyfish in the Rocky Mountains and come home with money, or hog hunt in Texas or Oklahoma. What would you all do or recommend? I'll be having as much fun figuring out what to do as I will going (well, maybe not quite). I'm looking forward to see what everyone else can come up with here.

how bout this,, come to neb, hunt some geese and a lot of yotes, maybe hit up the best ice-fishing around (1-2 pound blue gills, 2-15 pound pike) and have a whole lotta fun, and spend not nearly 500 bucks lol

Now that sounds pretty darn good! I lived up in Nebraska when I was growing up and I do miss it.  The hunting/fishing around here isn't bad at all, but I'm ready to try somewhere new. I'm still undecided, but I'm thinking about spitting it into 2 trips. Rockies and gulf coast. I would like to ice fish someday. I've never been able to, but it really looks like it would be fun (and cold).
