forearm bedding
« on: December 13, 2009, 08:48:06 AM »
Not sure it's called this, [ referring to the sticky ]. Can you have too many washer's on the fore-end ? I'm using teflon washer's. Noticed when I have two there is some side to side movement when action is opened. Took one out and it seem's to tighten thing's up, used paper to check if barrel was touching any on fore-arm and it's not. trying to get group's closer. It is .243 standard synthetic. Any suggestion's ???

Shoot it both ways and see what happens. Its not going to cause and dangers.

I like to have the channel free floated and the pressure at the receiver lite. The barrels tightness or lack there of should have nothing to do with the forend.

I just did some shooting today to test the RTV bedding I did and there was a small gain, not anything dramatic, my next attempt will be to install the set screw to see if my tention was too tight,,then if no improvement I'll try a different location of the RTV in the fore end. This is all with my 7-08, my 223 likes the rubber o-ring/set screw just fine,

Why not shoot a few groups without the forearm to see if that's the problem.
