Contender optics

Do most Contender owners shoot open sights or optics?  I just got into this game and currently have only a 35 Rem 14" barrel.  I suppose that this round is good to 150yds or so on deer and maybe elk but I don't know if my eyes are.  I have an opportunity to get a B&L Elite 3000 2-6 x 32 in like new condition for $150.  What is the consensus on this glass holding up to a Contender in 35 Rem?

  I had Bushnell Trophies on my 7-30 Waters and 41 mag.  The 7-30 was shot a lot. The 41 not very much. They seemed to hold up ok on those two. Had a Trophy on my 357 mag. also. Sure did burn the ammo up in that one.

As the old saying goes. You can only hit what you can see. So use a good scope. That sounds like a deal on the 3200 scope. Good glass. Another good scope for not a great deal of money, average $200.00, is the Weaver Classic Pistol 2.5-8X28 . I have had two of these for 4 years on a 357 mag 10" and a 14" 6mm-225 barrel and just ordered another one to put on a 30-30AI barrel I have ordered. They are very clear and have held up great. Zero has not changed one bit in 4 years of target shooting and dragging them all over creation hunting and shooting deer and such with them.

I've heard nothing but good about the B&L/Bushnell Elite series. The Elites are a step up from the Trophy series, but I can honestly say I haven't heard anything but good about the Trophy series, either...
I use rifle scopes on most of my barrels, but without a good muzzle break I'd say that is out of the question for a 35 Rem.
On my 7TCU firing full house hunting loads, I am using one of the $50 NCstar 2-7 pistol scopes, and it seems to be holding up just fine. Some of the guys on SP have been putting the same glass on some real boomers, and they are working fine.
If I were you, I'd buy the B&L, but I'm not sure B&L still warrantees them. But if it is in good condition, I think you'll be happy with it.

Thanks for the advice.  Got it for $130 shipped.  I would have bought it new but being an E-6 with four kids leaves me pretty broke right before Christmas.  It would have taken me at least six weeks to save for a new one.  I shoot mostly used Savage rifles for the same reason.  My only non-Savage rifle is an A-Bolt Medallion that was my 10th anniversary gift.
