Interesting problem with new BC
« on: November 25, 2009, 01:42:33 AM »
Hello Gentlemen! I'm new to this forum, and a new BC owner. I bought a new BC in 45-70 last month and just got to shoot it 2 weeks ago. I put a Williams FP sight on before I shot it to sight it in. I shoot highpower rifle competition and like easily adjustable rear sights. To make a long story short, to get the shots centered on target, I had to set the FP all the way left, and even had to drift the front sight some to the right! Knowing something wasn't right, I put the factory rear sight back on, sat the rifle on a flat surface sitting upright (hammer pointing up at 12 o'clock) and immediately noticed that the rear sight was sitting about 3/16 of an inch to the right of the top center line of the barrel! The rear sight base screw holes had been drilled and tapped off center. A call to customer service got me a prepaid UPS shipping label back to the factory for correction or a new barrel, I hope.
Has anybody else seen this happen on any of your rifles or heard of it? Just curious.

I wonder how that got through.  Please later post the turnaround time for us.

Thanks,

Pete

Will do Pete. The lady I talked to at customer service was really nice and said they put a priority on warranty work, but with the upcoming holidays, I'm not expecting anything soon.

I remember way back, and I think Tim might to when this was discussed some years ago.  I never used the Williams peep that came with any of the BC's.  Back when I first got mine, there were no front or rear sights that came with the BC's.

In the FAQ section there should be a sticky about long range sights for the BC.
