Went out to the boss’s farm today. He said he has been seeing lots of does and yearlings and the herd needed to be thinned. Jumped at the chance because I haven’t yet had a chance to drop the hammer on my BC. Loaded the sweety with Leverevolution and found me a good tree to sit by. Lots of low underbrush. About 7:30 a mature doe appears about 50 yds. I picked an opening and she politely stopped right in it. I had to lean right to get a clear shot. I hit her toward the front of the shoulder. She ran about 35 yds with the front running gear not working and disappeared in the brush. I saw movement back to the left, reloaded, stood up, and dropped the hammer right behind the shoulder of a button buck. He ran about 20 yds. Both shots exhibited pure havoc on the vitals. Found pieces of jacket in both deer. Of course both bullets exited. I thought I was going to have a lot of wasted meat. Such wasn’t the case. Only lost about a pound on both deer. I like big, slow moving bullets. Does the job and hardly wastes anything when I do my part. Leave a blood trail even I can follow. Like I said in my last post, “I’m really going to enjoy this relationship.
