New 45-70 250gr LE ammo! Kinda confusing because the title say GMX, but the text says FTX.  ??? Maybe they use the same webmaster as H&R!!  ;D

The only thing dumber than the 300 grain .45-70 loading is a 250 grain loading.

Why you say that?  I shoot a lot of 300gr. in my BFR.  They work well and they're much less expensive than larger bullets.

Tim, think that is the same bullet used in the 450 Bushmaster?  It shouldn't be as that is a .452 dia. bullet.  DP

I don't think they'd use a .452" bullet in the 45-70, they don't list it in the FTX bullets yet either.

I'm still trying to figure out why we needed flex-tips to begin with.  At pistol (and the good Handi Rifle) cartridge ranges they just don't offer anything.

The .430" 225gr FTX is listed as available from Hornady as a component now, they don't list data for it, but they should be able to provide it by email until they get it on their website.

It would be interesting to see how flat and accurate that 250gr bullet would shoot pushed with a max load...  Think it would stabilize?

It has the BC of a round ball.  It'll shed velocity like a new waxed car does rain.  The same thing goes for the 300 grainers.
