Handi in 22 Hornet
« on: November 01, 2009, 06:04:36 PM »
I'm sure this has been answered a dozen times, but here goes again. Anyone have any experience with a Handi in 22 Hornet? I had one but only shot it a couple of times before selling it. Accurate???
Problems????
Thanks.

Haven't shot mine much but at 75 yds. it will shoot a nice sub inch group. Hornady VMax 35's

still got 3 of them and all shoot greatto me, inch or  so groups  50 or 100yds i use lil gun and 35gr ballistic tips,  also found a deal awhile back on  some closeout  46gr bee bullets they were flat pointed  made to be used in the old marlin 218bee  lever guns , guy had 3 boxes of them cheap, so i got them and they shot real well out of the hornet's

It may have been asked a dozed times but I never get tired of telling people that my handi hornet is a winner.
Fill it with Lil'Gun under a 35 or 40 gr VMax. It is more accurate than I am.
Stops coyotes in their tracks. Smaller critters just blow up.

Great! Now I just have to find one. H&R has them listed but with synthetic stocks. The one I had was a wood stock.

Mine has been a "work in progress" type of project. It has started settling down after 200+ rounds. It shoots 35 gr. v-max reasonably well and with some work may shoot them very well. It does not like Nosler 40 gr ballistic tips, reguardless of how I load them it does not shoot well. It does like 50 and 55 gr Hrdy v-max and soft points, under 1/2" @ 100yds with either. I tried both IMR4227 and Lil'gun and had better results with the Lil'gun. I might try some of the Midsouth bulk bullets that Graybeard has been testing, they could be used in either my 22 hornet or .223 and hold down costs a little. I do enjoy reloading and shooting this little caliber, so much so that I sold one of my .22 mags.. It maybe a finicky round, but it sure is fun. JamesIII
