changing barrels
« on: November 03, 2009, 01:37:33 PM »
I've decided to join the guy who fit their own barrels and have bought a couple off the forum.. Read all the info on doing it. the questions i have are on the forearm. Should each barrel have its own forearm? Can one really give you the best accuracy if you use it for different barrels? if i need to get forearms were do you get the metal saddle piece that goes against the receiver, i see places that make the wood but you don't get the metal parts from them? All input appreciated.

i have one frame i use as a utility frame for 3 odd-ball barrels i have
and they all seem to shoot within 1-1.5" of each other...
even slugs  :o do good with it. some people say changing barrels hinder accuracy but,
i have not a problem doing it. my other 19 have there own frame.
i kinda like having a utility frame that lives outside my vault along with 3 barrels
that are quick to grab ;D

i have found very consistent near-zeros using one forearm with 3 diff barrels.  It is the forearm that comes with the ATI adjustable stock.  The stock is another issue  though.  Im sure consistent screw torque helps too.  Each can have different results though.  I do not like the syn factory forearms very much.  Best left on shotguns IMO.  I still would check zero after changing  though.  I think dedicated frames are the best garantee
