Any 95 to 100 grain bullets should work well as proven in the 243 Winchester for deer.

The standard 6mm Remington is good to use starting loads; the biggest benefit is case longevity.  The Ackley Improved cases tend not to grow over time.

I use a 6mm for deer with 95 and 100 grain bullets. Before i purchased my rifle, it has killed over 100 deer with 85 grain bullets.
I killed one deer with it, at about 40 yards, with 95 grain bullet.
I personally see no reason for the AI version. I reload for the 6mm, and it works just fine.

If the rifle is what you want and at the right price, yes, it will work for deer. But, i would not pay a premium for the AI part.

The 6mmAI is a good round. Don't expect an increase to 240 Wea. vel. or any larger cased 6mm round, but
a decent increase, let's leave it there. For what the round can do, go to the Sierra Manual, Edition V & consult them, they have good research to offer & no need to repeat here, anyone who wants to know can read it there. Look at their loads, I would rather not see loads that are over there's & not pressure tested as they do, so don't post them here.

As far as bullets go, 100 Part, Barnes TSX & Interbond would be my first tries.

BTW, if this becomes a "what can I get with an Ackley" thread or not get, I will shut it down.

I have used the 70 gr hp bullets in my 6mmAI with great results on Texas Whitetails but I only go for head shots. The results are nasty! My rifle is a Model 700 with a 26 inch "shot out" bench rest barrel re-chambered to tight neck dimn.
