What 357 bullet would you use in
« on: November 05, 2009, 10:37:16 AM »
What bullet would you choose to Hunt Hog , Deer in that order I really don't care to much for Deer but I'll kill one or 2 for friends and making sausage but I really like shooting and eating Hogs
I do reload and before the season is over I plan to use
A 357 Max and Herret in 10 Contender and mag in S&W revolver 6 inch barrel
I know not much difference in the max herret but that will help me decide what one stays and which one goes
As of now I think the Herret may go
Back to the subject Whats a Good Penetrating bullet in 357

cast swc ... I'd be happy with 158gr, but bigger's good too. Never done a 200gr in Max, I wonder what that would be like? :)

+1 on what Mikey said but with a gas check. Might need to try several weights to see what they prefer. My Security Six, Blackhawk and 10 inch Contender, all in 357 mag, all prefer different weights.

180gr Rem JHP in the Maxi or 180gr NEI cast boolit both over Win 296.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong.

I like the 200 grain hard cast LBT in my 6 inch Python. The long 200 grain bullet really will penetrate.

For deer I would go with a 158 grain JSP.

TommyT.......In your .357 Max I would opt for a good 180 grain JHP!

In the 6inch barrel .357, I would go with a Keith 158 hardcast bullet simply said.
