Nice pistol cabinet
« on: October 10, 2009, 01:03:16 PM »
I purchased this solid wood pistol cabinet from Wal Mart. Thought ya'll like to know. It acts as an end table and has a lock on it. Open the door and it has slide out trays to lay the pistols. Pretty cool.

That is nice!
If you don't mind, what did it cost?

$130 on line and they only charge 97cents for shipping. SportsmansGuide.com has on occasion had it for about $100. But every time I decided I wanted it they were out of stock so I finally pulled the trigger with Wally mart.

I suppose it's ok, but I have a machine gun nest in my headboard, and gun tower in my chimney. The pistol stand is a little light in the britches at my house.

We all aspire to a higher status of gun ownership. Machine gun nest and a gun tower are the things I can only dream about. I see my pistol cabinet as a move in the right direction. Your post serves as a great inspirational moment.... :)

Yea, I'll just bet it does. Actually I have just about the same thing you just purchased. I have to be close to something all the time to feel comfortable. My past profession was not always a friend maker.

Remove the sliding shelves and place a fire proof safe in there and you'd really have something.  ;)

I'm more comfortable when I have something near me too, but to me that means either on my person or sitting on the table next to me.  Locked cabinets and safes are for when I'm not home.

I got two of those finger print ones by the bed.
One for me with a 41 mag and on the other side is one for the MRS. with a 32 mag.
On the backside of the headboard is the 12ga pump, 3" #4 buck!

Kind of makes you feel all warm and cozy at night!!!   ;) ???

well that idiot hasn t yet started feeling the vulnerability of being old..
its really made it so  im never with out.. i like one heavy enough to pistol whip somebody even if im gonna try an not use it...ive got the little n380 kel tec that they totally replaced for me... shoots good now..
but i don t have any thunder in either hand anymore... i ll use the 38 ,60 like a black jack..
thats the plan anyway..the shot guns beside the bed if i got time to reach it from the bed [38 right beside my head on the night stand],,she got a semi 22 on her side..
was a time when i picked up the gun if somebody was in my house ,,but my real intention was to try an break as many things on thier body as i could before they could get outa my house..
confidence an knowing you can ,,is sweet .. but at home you can t let it be a contest of ability .. not if you got younguns an a wife ..an you the only thing between them an an intruder..nothing fair ,no rules ..
you woulda been in real danger if you didn t belong in my house an was...come to think of it thats still the case ... but you would have a better chance now.. thats why im always carrying..
am i gun crazy.. nope im old,an wanting to get a little older.. hope it never happens though... im 62 an so far nobody, that i know of ,died at my hands ..i got this far ...it be nice not to have think about it on my death bed.. slim
ps you leos don t take offence here ,,you gotta stay alive,, to do your job.. so if you have had to ,,im just glad you came out of it ,,an im thinking the creator is also.. nice cabinate by the way cabin.. :)

Cabin4.  A friend had one very similar to the picture you posted, he used it to store a gun or two but mostly for storing coins.  He came home from work one afternoon, found the backdoor kicked in and the cabinet and contents gone.

Like several others, I have no kids at home so I have guns positioned in several locations about the house.  I also have two large safes with the remaining guns locked up.  My big safe, an old military surplus Mosler gun safe weighs 1275 pounds empty, with the guns added it probably weighs close to 1500 pounds, the other one weighs about 800 empty, I keep my mil-surp guns in it.  I don’t think anyone will walk away with either one of them, if they do I hope I don't walk in while they are doing it............. ::)

I've got my heirloom guns in the safe, and others stashed all around.  Hopefully if someone breaks in while I'm gone they won't clean me out.  I only safeguard guns when the grandchildren come, and only  then with the 7 yr. old.  He just likes them too much.

From any room in the house I'm only a step or two away.....yep I live in a bad neighborhood, and I don't aim to let them run me out.  As a matter of fact, most of them are afraid to come around.  A few even cross the road to pass when walking.   Good...

Well the thing with kids and guns is, god please give me the strength to make this short. Most not all but most tell a kid see that don't touch. OK what is a kid gonna do first time you tell them that about anything, yep your right when your back is turned they are going straight to it. The key is teach them, train them, take them to the range or hunting just get them involved, and for god sakes don't ever think they are to young to learn. SAFETY STARTS WHEN YOU ARE BORN just think how you are with your kids NO NO NO, Don't touch, CATCH EM. My guns are in cabinets, dresser drawers, night stands, and my CCW and duty weapon are always loaded. Did I mention nothing locked, my boys will tell you when you walk in the door, that is if me or my wife know you; if you see any guns DON'T TOUCH.

My kids know what they will do I have taken my oldest to the cemetery and shown him grave sites from some who have and were never tot  you don't act like a freaking moron while handling a gun. Now all this goes with a little common sense my boys don't sleep with a Mack 10 under their pillow. The people who raise kids 95% of the time are the reason kids get hurt with firearms in the home. NOW DON'T ANYONE GET UPSET I SAID 95% THAT MEANS HERE AT GBO WE ARE THE 5% WHO HAVE A BRAIN, WELL I HOPE SO. Next time you are robbed let me know how it went when you say Mr. bad guy hold on a second please I just can't find the dang keys to my gun safe. Please let me know how that works out for ya.... :'( :'( :'( :o :o :o
