Take a gander in the FAQ's, the info is very likely in there!!

i read the faq was just wondering because it was a n followed by a m so i thought (nm) could have stood for something else or meant something different if they was together. if so now im goin to have to buy a different gun if i want to swap calibers.

Here's a direct link to the section of the FAQs that you need to read, an NM SB2 frame wouldn't be eligible for any rifle barrels, those made '96-'99 were outsourced and H&R will not fit rifle barrels to them, they may not fit shotgun barrels either, but I haven't learned yet if they will or not.

What were you going to chamber for?
If it's a lower pressure chambering, I see no reason why you couldn't barrel it yourself. Just keep pressure on the lower side. Remember when selecting a cartridge that spec pressure isn't necessarily lower. Using a larger cartridge of the same pressure rating will actually create more strain on the breech because of the greater surface area.

Just use a little thought when deciding what to use.
