Question about Handi Barrels.
« on: September 24, 2009, 02:41:45 PM »
In your experience, if a barrel is showing on the web at H&R, has it been in stock?

From my experience and what I have read here, the  H&R web site and ever customer service are not reliable. What you see on the shelf and the offers on the for sale or trade thread here on GREYBEARD are where to look for guns. The knowledge to tune them is here. These folks know some stuff.
good luck, eddie

Unfortunately the Website isn't updated as often as needed. Case in point they still have the Spring rebates offer still up  :-\, your best bet is to check here and to call directly about the specific barrel you are wanting to see if it's still in stock. Still yet there have been reports about CS not in the know and telling the opposite..
GBO is the headline news of all H&R info... stay tuned for everything ;D

I don't think so. if you check out the Remington satisfaction poll, there have been people that have been in line for a certain barrel but ..well who knows what happens in between.. but they get pulled back and don't get their barrel for another few weeks-months :-X
Remington still has a lot of fine tuning to do with the barrel program.... I believe it will get taken care of, but this transition for H&R seems to have been a very hard one.

If it were me I would call CS to see if they had the bbl in stock if they said yes I would hang up wait 20 min. and call again and see if I got the same answer I would do this 4 times the first day. Then wait 2 days and do it all again all the while checking the classified for the bbl I want . Do this for 2 weeks and see how many times you got the answer you wanted or til you have found your bbl in the classifieds. If after 2 weeks you got the answer you wanted to here at least 75% of the time flip a coin as to whether you want to chance sending your frame in and if you do make sure it's one that you can do without for some time incase something goes wrong. Personally I got plenty of frames and I ain't chanced it since the take over. But that's just me I AIN'T IMPRESSED with the new system. Kurt

Im not sure if they will "hold" a barrel, but...to get to talk with anybody that is a human YOU will be on "hold" longer than it takes to work a little overtime and save up for the whole new gun  :D

I very much would like to order some barrels but I just dont have the trust in the way they are running things lately either.

I'm going to give a little different perspective.   I sent a frame in for two barrels in on May 29.  I had it back on June 30.  I'm happy with the service.  I sent another frame in on August 6.  I just checked on it last week and they are waiting on a barrel.  I have called customer service probably 6 times this year and have never been on hold.

I'm happy with the service.  Yes, I wish my barrels were in stock.  But I understand supply and demand.  After the hunting season rush they will catch up on orders.
