Damage to the psyche
« on: September 23, 2009, 05:34:35 PM »
My wife was watching TV the other night, channel surfing. Everytime I walked by there was a killing or a tragic news story, or some inane drivel. That can't be good for the mind. I personally avoid it, basically for the same reason I avoid liquor and cigarettes. It's a health issue with me.

It seems to me that the descriptions of hell that I have read are not anymore fearsome than the visions from television. It would seem that we live in a terrible world, if the world were as depicted on TV.

TV for the most part is make believe... the news is over emphasized for sensational reasons to attract viewers. I agree in the most part it is a depressing thing not enough of the good that is out there. Yet without them we would know nothing of this problem of Iran and so on. On the one hand it helps us understand whats going on in the world.

The problem is that nowdays the media has be twisted and spins the story according to their leanings. If it is stand up honest news it servers the viewer if not it is nothing but another soap opera.

With a very few exceptions, fox news seems to serve the people better than the others. I watch them all and find that for example you can not trust MSNBC on anything they report. The bias is unbelieveable.

Fox as the NEWS is presented is fair and balanced the talkers such as Hannity are indeed biased but that is noted straight up and not presented as a NEWS show.

I like you long for honest open unafraid news casters but unfortunately for the most part they do not exist.
