Hello everyone,
Seems as if there is a bit of interest in his topic and lots of questions spread out all over. Here's the only source, I know of, for this obscure ammunition. Here's the latest info I got from Stars & Stripes Ammunition regarding their .410ga and 28ga slug ammo.
Email message #1:
We make both 28ga and 410 Bore slugs. Our slugs are considerably more powerful than OTC slugs, and that's if you can find any in these calibers, especially the 28ga.
The 410 Bore is a real shocker with slugs. Our top loadings produce rifle like velocities in shotgun length barrels. Our 93gr Ball is blasted along at 2,850 fps in the 3" hull, and about 75fps slower in the 2-1/2"
If you have a fully rifled barrel chambered for 410, we can actually do a lot with that. I can load a 45 Colt bullet and duplicate the 45-70 very easily, but I can only use a brass hull for this loading as it has the internal space to accomodate the oversized bullet.
Pricing on both of these starts at $39.99/box of 25.

The 410 Bore slug is a solid ball, weighing 93gr. The 3" loading shoots at 2,800 fps, yes, that is correct and not a typo. It is very deadly if you make careful shot placement! We are using all the latest technology we could develop in our lab, other companies won't do this either to economics and a rather obscure loading, or simply because they do not have the ability to do it! The ball caliber is 375 cal. We do not recomend this slug be used over 50 yards, but it will be very lethal even beyond that range, but shot placement is very critical due to the low mass of the ball.
I also have a 2-1/2" 410 Bore slug, and it is slightly slower.
The 28ga slug is also the solid ball type and weighs 200gr. This slug is driven to 1,600 fps in the 2-3/4" loading. It is the equivalent of a magnum 50 cal musket. The ball caliber is 50 cal. This slug can be used effectlively to about 100 yards. We also offer the 2-1/2" shell with a slug.
If you have one of the european shotguns with a rifled barrel, we also offer a 300gr conical sabot loading for the 28ga 2-3/4", but you must only use this loading in a fully rifled barrel.**(TC folks, here's another option for a custom barrel)
Feel free to PM me for contact info.
Thanks, Dinny
