need info
« on: September 19, 2009, 05:11:38 PM »
i am wondering if you could put a pistol cal bbl on an SB1 frame i ask only cause i know the combo's they are making right now with the 357mag and the 44mag are on SB1 frame and would it be safe to do so thinking a pistol cal rifle would be aolt of fun especially a 45lc would be great pair with my blackhawk. any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Negative so far on the 45 Colt SB1 from H&R, most likely due to too much temptation to rechamber to Casull or 460S&W which have double the pressure of the Colt +P. To do one yourself I don't see a problem with it since the 44mag has higher pressure and there's not a lot of difference in case head size, .457" @ 40kcup for the 44mag vs .480" @30kcup(+P) for the Colt.

thank you quick was looking at the 44mag or 357 probably but a 45 lc would be nice but in my case atleast i wouldn't be tempted would just leave it a lc and i do beleive that the 45/410 is also on the SB1 to and i would either do it myself or have my gunsmith fit bbl to the frame. will also be doing some reloading soon so whatever loads would be at safe levels.

The 45-410 has a huge amount of freebore, so Colt pressure isn't an issue, standard Colt pressure isn't much higher than the .410.

H&R will fit one if it was made since 1987.

I have been told by H&R that .357 barrels will be in stock soon.  I have been checking with them for a couple of weeks now since I'm trying to get a couple more myself.
