torque
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:16:45 AM »
Just got my boyd's thumhole stock. No stock bolt came with it. In the faqs it recomends a 3/8-24 x 2" long buttonhd /sockethd screw
using a flat washer. Should I also use a lock washer or is the thread engagement to short for this ? And is 25FTlb still suggested  for the toque on this bolt ?

thanks in advance Tony

The torque spec is fine, I've been using white lithium grease on the bolts, but I've never used a lock washer, but it wouldn't hurt probably, some use a light thread locker like finger nail polish or purple Loctite. I have never had a stock bolt come loose, but one other member did while he was on a hunting trip, it didn't add to his hunting enjoyment to say the least!!  :-\
