35 cal rate of twist

Hello all , Im new here. Great site tons of great topics. I have a question that I have not yet seen here. I have read of rechambering the .357 mag barrels to 357 max and even to .35 rem. My question pertains to the rate of twist, is it the proper rate for the .35 rem or perhaps the .358 Win ? I am considering a handi gun and really like the idea of a 35 or better yet the 358 win. I know they could be had in 35 Whelen but I have a 700 Rem. in that cal already

Welcome! Look down the page for the twist rate threads, yours may be a 1:15½" twist like both of mine are which is fine for the 358Win.

Just checked the twist rate on my .357 Maximum and it is 1 in 15 1/2".
Do you think it would stabilize a Sierra 225gr SBT GameKing
This barrel is a H&R factory, MODEL SB2 "ULTRA" CAL. 357 REM MAX with a trade mark.
Who knew?

My RMEF 35 Whelen 1:16" shoots 250gr Speer spitzers just fine, but at considerably higher velocity, give it a shot, just don't expect it to behave any differently on game than a FMJ at 357Max velicities.
