I've got a question.
« on: September 10, 2009, 06:32:37 PM »
What would be the approximate value of an unfired Handi rifle with a synthetic stock in .243 Winchester?  It is equipped with a Bushnell Banner 3-9x32 scope.

Ballpark figure is plenty good.

With the prices here in North Eastern Indiana, I would say $350. But that is only if you want the scope. New Handi rifles sell for about $300 now. I hope some other weigh in on this. I am always seeing that some one pick up a pristine Handi for $200, but I never see any thing like it. My philosophy is, if you feel like you got a good deal, then you did. Thanks.  It's a rifle advertised on a local Seattle website, www.seattleguns.net.   The seller wants $600 for it.   He's likely to have it for a long, long time.  Early this spring I did get a good deal on an H&R Topper 158 in .30-30 for $100.  It looked unfired.  It does real well with cast bullets, sweet to shoot.

Even if the 243 is the fluted Ultra which is their most expensive 243, it shouldn't sell for more than $400 or so with the scope, Bud's sells the rifle for $330 shipped, he sells the Handi for $252 shipped.

That guy is MIGHTY prowd of that rifle..  ::) ;) Do like Tim suggests, let him keep it and go buy yourself a brandy new one and then put better glass on it. With the change do something nice for the wife, take her out to dinner... (You may still have left over $$$  ::) ;))

I paid 275 for a brand new .308 and I paid 350 for a brand new .204 Ultra Varmit fluted bull. I want the 600 dollar one because it must have belonged to Elvis, JFK, Dale Earnhardt, Michale Jackson, Francis scott key, Thomas Jefferson well you get the picture.

Just an FYI, I have a three H&Rs that I have $500-$600 invested in, the 405 Winchester, 338-06 Ultra and 6.5x55, the rebore or stub cost $300 plus the cost of the original rifle, I would never expect to get that much out of them tho, but I also never plan to part with them!!  ;D

I used to see that all the time when I had TC's... guys would have $500-600 worth of custom work done to bbl's then tire of them and could not understand why they were not worth that much to someone else. When you have work done on your H&R's you need to be pretty sure your gonna keep it always. Kurt
