Calhoun folks will sell you a .19 kit, including barrel, that you have your smith thread. I would try it on a Stevens 200 as they are the easiest and cheapest to change barrels, and you should be able to get one under $300. However, you may not be able to find a suitable bolt head in the Stevens for the .19. You could do the 19-223 and just use a Stevens 223 and have no bolt head issues at all. If the rebarrel works fine, you can sell the unused 223 barrel to help pay for the job.
The rechamberings of a H&R 22 Hornet I like are the 221 Fireball, 22 BR and 22 PPC. I know they do not meet you sub-caliber interests, but I think they would be interesting to do, especially the two bench rest cartridges.
