Savage 99C series a in 308
« on: September 03, 2009, 06:41:59 AM »
Looking at a Savage 99 C series a on the web . I seems to be in good shape with a pistol grip and what appears as pressed checkering no scope just plain sites .

Was this one of the cheaper 99"s .Any one have any info? Would it be worth 500.

Well I am second in line . some one has put a deposit on it before I could .

The model "C" is a decent gun with a impressed checkering, a "clip" (box) magazine, and "tang" safety. If its in really good shape, I'd "pop" for the $500 if I needed another '99. None of the 99's were really "cheap" guns. Some had better wood than others or a clip rather than the original "rotary" magazine; but all are great "hunting" rifles IMHO.

Well I sat on it for a day and lost out on the deal .
Was not too sure on this as it seems some rifles are better than others . The wood according to pictures had finish wear and the barrel had some bluing blem , other than that it looked really good .
Have a problem laying down cash on viewing pictures on a gun I do not have any knowlege on at all. It had a clip was chambered in 308 with pressed chectering, so assumed it was made in the sixties . Wheither  the guns were beter than the last ones made is what I question . All I know is the metal is stronger than those made rewar.

Well I am sure another will come along
