Well, I stopped by the gun shop that I mentioned had the '06 Handi for a good price, and it was still there so it followed me home. I took it to the range today for a quick try out, and it seems to shoot pretty good with some loads. The ejector doesn't eject very well though, and I suspect that is why it got traded in in such good shape. I did take a look in the FAQ's though, and I'll take it apart, and polish things up. I may try the BB that Tim suggests too. It doesn't hang up much, and I think I can get it working OK. It will be fun to work on at any rate. Needs a little trigger tweaking too, but my 30-30 came out OK, so I'll have no problems with that. Dimensionally, the gun seems pretty good, and fired cases look good.

Enjoy it! Just be careful what type of "snacks" you take into those gunshops!
You never know what might follow you home the next time. ;D ;D

My '06 stainless did that every few rounds.  I'd "fix" it and it would be fine for a while and then do it again.  At the time, it was my only ejector.  I had it converted to extractor and that ended the problem.  I have a .44 Magnum ejector that is out right now for conversion to extractor, and that will be the end of my ejectors.  I just don't want to have to worry that it won't eject when I need it to, and I hate scratching around in weeds and snow looking for cases.  Running back to the shop to get a cleaning rod if you're shooting off the bench is one thing.  Hunting with a sticking ejector is another.  They ought to build ejector barrels the same as the Huntsman with a rod under the barrel ;D ;D ;D

Well, I worked on the ejector today along with the trigger. I got the trigger nice, and crisp, but it's still a little heavy. The ejector seems to work better, but I won't be sure until I try it with loaded rounds. It seems to me that the best would be a combination. The ejector guns could use just a little cam like the extractor guns have, and then the spring to pop the rounds out. Are you going to prototype one for us Tim?  :D  :D It would only take a few thousandths of movement to get the case started.

You need to spend some more time in the FAQs, been there, done that over a year ago, that's my favorite conversion, I've done several that way using the ejector claw and an extractor cam with a short spring to take up the space, they are more pics in the recent thread an the mini-mill titled "New Toy".!!  ;D
