Just wondering
« on: August 19, 2009, 03:47:26 PM »
Does anyone know if H&R ever plans to make larger caliber guns or barrels? ??? I would like to see a 300 win mag.

Thanks
Barry

Nope, the 7mmMag and 300WinMag Handi-Mags were taken off the development schedule in January 2008 due to lack of distributor interest, I seriously doubt Remington will invest the money in the development of a new frame to make it happen if distributors have no interest in ordering them.

I think the Distributors should have polled the buyers before they decided they didn't want to mess with it. I can think of several handi owners on GBO alone that would buy them for their collection if nothing else.
Thanks Tim

46 total, 4 shotguns and 4 rimfires, all on their own frame except one, had 47, but sold the loose barrel.  ;)

:o My goodness.... I would have to buy a bigger house to hold that many guns!! Maybe I'll have the room in 20 years when my kids grow up and move out. I can just tell the wife that I need more guns to fill the void of not chasing my kids!!! ;D That's probably about the same time that I will finally have the time to start reloading!!! ;)

I'd better get going!  I have two and am working on my third (30-30, 45-70 and soon to own a 7-08).  I don't know what took me so many years to find the H&R's, but I didn't discover them until I saw my first Buffalo Classic.  Now that's all I want!  44 Man

45-70, 30-30, and the .357 mag./max. all the only real Handi's you'd ever need.

The rest is just dessert!    But I love dessert!
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Actually I think the only two Handis you really "need" are the 357 Max and 30-06, because you can create such a wide variety of loads for each - 38sp, 357 Mag, 360 DW and 357 Max, and 30-06 from 100gr to 250gr. Now the Handis you "want", unlimited.

Just my thought, but I believe the .357 Max/Mag and the .45-70 will do it all.  I love both, and wouldn't be without them.  They'll do anything from chipmunks to brown bear.  You can hit anything you can see with the .45-70....and knock it down.
