Dicks 223 Camo

Anyone buy a 223 H.B. Camo Dicks special with scope. If so, how does she shoot. My buddies sons 22 has a scope that seems alot like the one on my 223. His says Barska on it.YUK!  I really planned on replacing the scope anyway but you know, Maybe get by with it for a while. I just shot some 50 gr blitzkings and some 60 gr Sierra H.P #1375. No point posting the target. Similar results when I shot it before with other bullets. Gonna check the scope mounting, which I laped and remounted with different rings when I got it. Clean and try to polish the rifling down a bit more, and then take off the forearm and try it. Then the scope goes. Trigger is a bit heavier than I thought when I bought it. Didn't want to get into trigger jobs on these yet. Anyone have one that shoots good? Curious, Thanks!

 Hey bigvarmint i bought one of those in 308 win. first thing I did was replace the scope, never even fired it once with the original scope on it. I tried the scope that came on it on my savage 10FP 223 and found that the scope adjustments were bacwards. Up was down and right was left, and that eye relief was minimal. So IMHO replace the scope !

Spikehorn, I remember you saying something about the backwards adjustment. I had planned on a different scope. How does it work on your Savage? I thought about putting it on a Hornet I have. Prop. another bad idea. Just now sorting some V-maxes to try with 4 different primers. About has to be the scope to shoot this bad. Maybe I'll just stop wasting components. Thanks for the reply.

 Couldn't deal with the short eye relief and not sure if it had a paralax problem. Put BSA 8X32X44 mildot back on the 10FP. That scope is just collecting dust now!

I'd contact H&R for a replacement, at least to let them know there's a problem with them, the scopes are the same as those on Remington package guns, contracted by Remington to OEM manufacturers off shore.

Tim, the scope that came on the rifle had a broken plastic adjuster. Like I said I had pretty much figured on a different scope when I bought it. Started bugging me that I had paid for a broken scope so decided to see what Dicks said. They took one off another gun and gave it to me. Said it would be easier for me than sending the whole rifle back since it was a package deal. They were gonna bore sight it for me but I noticed the screws on the rings had eaten into the rail. Didn't think much of the rings anyway. I put new rings on and lapped them and loctited all in place. Mostly wanted them there stocks and to try a 1:9 H.B. in 223. Live and learn, pretty much had it learned before I made the purchase. If I'm not the only one having problems I bet they already know. I don't care to waste my time on the phone as I have heard about that dog and pony show. Put the primers away and will wait to waste anymore ammo until I get a better scope. If they're Barska I understand. I'd think they could at least afford to put a low priced Bushnell on them. They should have thrown them off the boat before they got to our shore. Thanks, Mike
