Need help with Stevens 200
« on: July 28, 2009, 04:06:03 PM »
Am looking at a new project gun. Need someone that has a Stevens 200 short action to measure the distance between the two receiver screws for me. This measurement is required to see if a Choate stock will fit a Stevens 200. Savage short action lengths are 4.275 or 4.411, and this stock will fit the 4.411.

Do appreciate the effort.

I can measure the two I have, but I know it is the stagger feed variety (the shorter screw centering). Measuring mine will do no good, you have to know what style feed yours is. The newer ones - last two years are center feed which takes the longer screw spacing. There are still some of the older style still floating around. When you buy your 200, just make sure it is the newer center feed variety for that stock. I made both of mine project guns and they shoot very well. Good Luck and Good Shooting

I have a stevens 7-08 and with a tape measure it appears to be 4 1/4 inches.  Hope that helps.

I have the short action with the staggered feed mag, mine measures real close to 4.3 inches, the newer ones are different.  Larry

Will probably be a centerfeed(4.411) as that is all they've made for the past couple years, but some small shops may still have a staggered(4.275) on the shelf.
