A few years ago I got a interarms mak x in 458 win mag in a trade. I didn't realy like it so I chamberd it in a shortend 460 wby.
over all case 2.55 40 deg shoulder I rebated the rim so I didn't have to open the bolt face just incase It didn't work out.
the best load I got was 96.0 gr win 760 or h 414 400gr speer flat nose 2435 fps. It has 86.5 flbs of recoil in a 8 lb rifle. (4 power leupold scope)
It will shoot between 1-1 1/2 at 100yrds if you can take it .(no muzzle brake hear)
My boys and I had cow elk tags that year. (4) I gave mine a texas hart shot and the bullet went full lainght and exited! One of my sones double shoulder shot one droped like a stone! The outher two thay hit the close shoulder and dido stone drop!
I dont know if it will kill elaphant, but if one ever goes rogue in my town I aim to find out!!!!
