Remington 700 .223

I was looking at 223's today and was rather impressed with the price of the ADL model.  Anyone have one and how are they for accuracy?  I have only ever purchased BDL versions.  

Also, has anyone seen one of the new LV VS models yet?  If you haven't heard about it, it is a light carry varmint rifle with a stainless fluted medium contour fluting.  They are out now but the gun shop hasn't recieved their shipment yet.    Are they worth waiting for?   :?

Pleas don't bother to recomend any other brand....I am a true blue Remington man.  I have looked at the new Tikka T3....not impressed especially when you go with the 223....they only have one action size....magnum.

I've owned a boat load of R700s in .223 in various configurations. Have yet to get one that wouldn't keep pretty much everything under an inch for five shots at 100 yards and most of the varmint versions would keep loads it liked under 1/2" for same.

I owned one ADL in .223. Don't anymore as I sold it. When the rifle arrived the fellow who bought it (an FFL holder) said the barrel had light rust. Dunno how it could as nothing else I own has ever had but I offered him his money back. He said let him clean it up and shoot it and he'd let me know. After he shot it he said no way was I getting that rifle back. His first five shots with some load he just picked up from what he had on hand went just under 1/2" for five shots at 100 yards. That's the way it shot for me too. Can't say yours will if you but it but mine sure was a shooter.

A few years ago I bought 3 that were police tradeins.  They had been abused from the looks of things.  Chipped stocks, cracks and finish damage, but the bores seemed OK.  All were tested with several loads and accuravy was fine on all.  Sub 1 inch groups were the norm and became almost boring.  One had a particular liking for a faairly warm load with the 55 grain SX Hornaday and I kept that one.  I had bought them with the idea of use as a donor for a 17/223 but they shot too good.  Traded of the 2 that only shot great, hept the one that was spectatular..  There is no real difference between the ADL and the BDL versions other than the magazine arrangement..  I've never owned a 223 in the heavy barreled version of the 700 but have one in 222 rem that was built in the 70's.  It'l do in thelow .3's with a load of 40 grain SX and Ball C2.  It jsut don't get much better in my hands...with anything.

I just saw the LV SF in a magazine article recently.  It looks really cool.  It's essentially a Sendero SF that has been on a diet.  The only thing that I don't particular like about it is that it has a 22" barrel and I prefer a 24."  Granted, it's really not a big deal in a .223, but it's just my personal preference.  I know, or at least I think I know, that the BDL and ADL in .22-250 have a 24" barrel.

The gun weighs something like 6 3/4 pounds.  That truly is a "walking varmint" gun.  Still, at an MSRP of over $900, you must consider that you could get 2 (maybe 3) ADLs at that price.

One of the best shooting rifles I have ever owned was a adl in 22-250. I had to have the trigger slicked up a little, but it loved Hornady 60 grain spire points and V-max 55 grainers. If I was haveing a good day, it would it would touch bullet holes all day long. Neck shot a couple nice deer with it, killed them as dead as a 300 mag. I really liked that ADL, but traded it for a 700VS in the same caliber. Really like it too!!!, but wish I had my ADL back. Proof is in the shooting, not in how much a gun cost.

Several of my hunting buddies shoot adl's in .270. They are very accurate as well. It is a great gun at a good price. I feel that they are very durable as well. Would not think twice about it, if I wanted one, I would buy it up and not look back.
