Chicago Handgun Ban Upheld
« on: June 03, 2009, 05:30:49 AM »
Despite the recent ruling that the second amendment IS an individual right, an appeals court has ruled that Chicagos handgun ban will stand because Chicago is not a federal entity as is the District of Columbia, where a similar ban was ruled unconstitutional. If allowed to stand a precedent may be set that your local government can VIOLATE YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AS A UNITED STATES CITIZEN! These are indeed worrisome times we live in.

That's the part I don't get. The supreme court ruled that states can take away constitutional rights? If it's a states' ability to deny our 2nd ammendmant rights, why not free speech or freedom of religion.

This will end up in the supreme court, hopefully it will be overturned.

Sounds to me like it's time for the ISRA to bring suit against this decision?

This type of ruling is right up the "Wise Latina's" train of thought, folks.

Better hang on to your rumps.  Looks like the porcine posse in Chicago has pretty well figured on her confirmation, and when it goes to SCOTUS, she'll be waiting there with her form letter ruling, and all she'll have to do is enter the word "Chicago" where ever she has a blank.

Alternately, she will be able to write in "New York", "California", and "your home town" when it comes to that.
