Quality Control Issues?
« on: June 03, 2009, 03:28:30 PM »
Tried out my new 223 yesterday. Found plastic scope finger adjustment split. Looks to be screwed in with two small screws.
Brass scrapes on top of chamber. Extractor seems to push the catridge up when loading. (Answer may be in FAQS)  Makes it hard to push shell in. May need to grind some down.
Forend is tight against barrel on right side and proper gap on left side. The two other 223s they had were the same. (Answer may be in FAQs). I was going to sand the right side.
Wondering if Tim knows or could find out who makes these scopes. Can't find a name. Just curious. Guess I will talk to Dick's first and see if they would swap me for one of the other scopes. Doubt they want to give the problem to someone else. Otherwise I don't know if H&R or whoever they are today will take care of it. Word of warning to Handi buyers. Look them over carefully then again and again and again. I did with my 44 mag and found places I had to file down and re-blue after I got it home.  ::) ::) ::) Seems to be a nice gun other than that :-\

Tried to take pictures of problem areas a few times and quality was poor. Didn't want to lose the written part so I'll try this.

Just a wild guess but I think the Scope is a Barska.  Larry

They couldn't say who makes the scopes, but they're made offshore for several Remington companies and have passed some very harsh testing.
