fuzz, Browning BPCRs were made in .45-70, .40-65, and a very few in .45-90 (called a Creedmore).  The largest quantities were in .45-70 caliber but .40-65 are a little easier on the shoulder.  Keep checking this and other BPCR forums and the firearm auction sites.  Every once in a while you'll find one for sale, but price is slowly going up.

Just picked up a previously owned but unfired BPCR in 45-70 for $1500 out the door, or rather to DORS dealer to do the transfer ($45), at the Cow Palace gunshow.  It was and looked new.

Drain Rock, congratulation on finding the Browning.  They are great rifles.  Say, if you don’t mind I like to get some information on the rifle.  Click on the link below to take you to a separate thread I started on the subject.  I’ve been working on material for a book on the rifles.  You serial number will be kept private and I can likely tell you something about your rifle you may not be aware of.  Thanks.

That's a good price.  The chances are slim you will find another NIB one for less.
