Range Time.
« on: May 17, 2009, 05:22:52 PM »
Spent 5 hours at the range today with several guns and 2 of our guests from the Philippines.  To say those 2 girls had fun would be a gross understatement!  Before we even started to put guns in cases they were both wanting to go back as soon as we can.  They both shot everything I took out which was 22 rifle and pistol, 22 mag pistol, 22 hornet Handi (mounted on my 45's frame and wood, real pretty), 223, 380, 7-30 Waters Handi, 357 mag Handi and my new Marlin 35 Rem.  They had a ball, shot very well and listened to everything I said about guns.  I had as much fun as they did just watching them.  Got the 7-30 Waters dialed in at 50 yd, overlapping holes with Federal ammo.  Had a few stickey cases out of 50 rounds, will have to attend to that.  22 Hornet was shooting great with 40gr Hornady V-max and 40gr Sierra over 13.0 gr LilGun.  They both took 4 shots with the 35 Rem and would have done more, but was out of that ammo.  DP

I think it's a fine thing you're doing with your student guests.  They're picking up a little more on American Heritage than they may have found elsewhere.  Thank you for your open generosity to these kids.  You're breeding more pro-gunners in the world.  It is appreciated..  Give them a hug from Patty and I.

I only took 2 boxes of 35 rem ammo with me, didn't want to get to far into my stash of it. ;)  Pete, this has been a real blast for my family who are also Philippino.  I'm the only white boy in the home, everyone else is full Philippino or half.  Needless to say I walk around muttering to myself most of the time, I only catch some of what they are talking about when they get to going.  All 5 girls are talking about trying to do this again next year.  Gonna be kinda ruff to say goodbye to em next month.  Anyway, any time I can get someone to go shooting who hasn't, I feel very good about showing them it's fun and not evil.  Anyone who goes shooting should make it a point to introduce the sport to new people.  Sourdough, I salute you for training kids to shoot safely.  OK, I'll get off the soap box now :-[.  DP  PS, Pete I will have to ask momma if I can give em a hug for you and Patty.  They are young and darn cute! ;D  DP
