Henry BigBoy
« on: May 15, 2009, 08:11:33 AM »
As I have posted elsewhere my wife is interested in Cowboy Shooting.  I am thinking of equipping her with 357 pistols and rifle (shooting 38 special.)  I am own and really like an EMF Hartford Model 1892 in 45 Colt (a Rossi) and my brother has a Malin 1894 cowboy in 357 that he loves.  It seems to me that the third choice is the Henry Big Boy.  Does anybody know anything about Henry rifles?  I have not read much on this site about them, so I wonder if they are not favored.  If so why?

If the moderator for this site doesn't move this post to Lever Action Rifles, you may want to post this question there where it is on topic.

I have a Henry Golden Boy in .22wmr. I love this rifle. The action is smooth and it shoots very well. The Big Boy has a brass reciever (as you likely know) but the golden boy has a brass plated aluminum cover over the cast metal reciever. This has not been a problem and it always stays shiny whereas the Big Boy will need polishing if you want the brass to look bright.

As far as how the big boy shoots, I have only heard good things but have not had an opportunity to try one.

Look on the Lever Gun forum, you will find lots of info

Sorry folks, I posted this in the wrong place.  I thought I posted it in lever action rifles. Why?  I don't know? Probably because I was moving quickly to deal with a problem at work.
