Remove spots of bore rust

eddiegjr, (eddie) a New guy

 What is the best way to remove dark rust spots from a bore. don't have any idea how deep they are and only see them at the end in front of the chamber looking by eye. What tools do I need to get to look at a bore? (brands)
 
I searched "bore rust" but "no match" popped up.
 
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Here's a bore light that works good. I bought one-7 bucks-what the heck. I found bore rust in an old gun and Wipe out-patch out- removed the rust

I have not tried this, but I have been told that you can wrap a piece iof heavy duty aluminum foil over a swab, push it through the barrel and it will come out "bright as a mirror" ????????????????

Wrap a little 000 steel wool on a brush and put some oil on it.  A few trips up and down the bore will have it looking perfect.  Larry

If it is stuborn and will not come loose go to the surplusrifle.com web site and look for a post on electronic bore cleaners.
I have been a milsurp owner for many years and it is the best I have ever come up with for cleaning a bore.
Will get rust , copper , lead  and anything else in a barrel and leave it sqeeky clean.
