you savage experts.. i got ready to shoot an the pin wouldnt contact the primer.. i pulled the bolt ,cleaned it an turned the piece that swivels there next to the firing pin about 5 turns.. it fired good then.. so was it just trash or did what i did run the firing pin out a bit further ,as to make contact.. id like to know for future reference if what i did worked or the cleaning fluid just finaly washed an obstruction away.. thanks for any help.. slim..

The locking lugs are not threaded into the bolt; so turning it should have nothing to do with how far the firing pin comes out. It was more than likely some dirt or something else that obstructed the firing pin to come out all the way. The cleaning and turning the locking lugs, more than like dislodged what ever was preventing the firing pin from coming out all the way. At my first opportunity, I would disassemble the bolt (you can do it) and give it a through cleaning. After using Gun Scrubber or similar product, lightly recoat the internals and externals with a light lubricate like Rem Oil. You may want to take the opportunity to grease the locking lugs with a grease that will not freeze if it gets cold. Good Luck and Good Shooting
