Which 357 max 180 gr bullet?
« on: May 09, 2009, 11:59:34 AM »
I would like to hear from 357 max shooters which 180 grain bullets they use for deer hunting and what the results were good or bad. I have Hornady XTP, Hornady SSP, Remington semi jacketed HP and Speer 170 grain gold Dot, and am really eager to hear any results on game with any of these plus any other bullets of similar weight.

The hornady XTP is my all time favorite jacketed bullet, The SSP would never shoot as well and I don't like to hunt with hollow points. I have never tried the gold dots, I think they might open up to much at the speed a max can push them. (I do carry them loaded in my .38) The RNSPs for the .35 rem shoot pretty well but I've never used them on game.

Personally all I use for hunting anymore is 180gr LFNGC LBT style hardcast, Knocks whitetails silly and complete pass thru with very little blood shot meat. I launch them out of my handi at 2000FPS, Has worked very well so far, I cast my own but there are alot of good cast bullets out there to use. 8)

I have had good results with the SSP and 21.0 grains of H110. Deadly on Fla. hogs!
