Gander Mtn. find
« on: April 29, 2009, 04:01:13 PM »
I had to make a trip Tuesday to Western Louisiana and decided to cross the border into Texas and go to the store in Beaumont. Cruising the used gun section I found NU Handi 280 ejector. I didn't need that caliber but It was like new and out the door for 129.00 I couldn't resist. Now I'll have a dedicated receiver if the 35 Whelen's ever come out of testing.

Tim and Andy, some .280 help please.  I've got a friends .280 here to wring out.  He doesn't reload so he'll be shooting factory loads.  He can't get it to group well and he's shooting Federal Power-Shok 150 gr. soft points.  I was wondering what factory ammo shoots best in the Handi .280?  I haven't put it on the bench yet.  Since the snow's gone, I've been useing every windless minute to get my own poop in a row.  Hopefully, next week I'll get to the .280.  Thanks.

Pete

Remington Core-Lokt 140gr or 150gr, Federal Premium 140gr TBBC, and Hornady Light Mags have been reported as shooting good.

Mine shoots Federal Fusion 140 grn under an inch on a consistant basis.  It doesn't shoot Remington Coreloks quite as well but still around 1.5-1.75 inches.
