Handi .260 ??
« on: April 13, 2009, 10:06:42 AM »
Any one ever rechambered their handi for a .260 remington? ???

Who has had good experiences in doing these rechambering jobs?

It will be more than just a rechamber, H&R doesn't make a 6.5mm barrel, it will have to be a rebore or a stub, I had a 6.5x55 Ultra stub done on a Shilen Match blank by GBO sponsor Wayne York, plan on $300 plus the cost of the barrel/donor/blank, he does both, he's done a couple rebores for me, a 338-06 A-Square from a 25-06, and a 405 Winchester from a 38-55 Target, plus several rechambers, the next of which will be a 35 Whelen Improved, he's done work for a LOT of members here including the big guy himself, Graybeard!  ;)

He's a busy guy, I'll give him a call and see what's up, I have to discuss the 35 Whelen "Improved-Improved" with him anyway.  ;)

quickdtoo,
Well, the 6.5x55 is close to the .260. Were you satisfied with feild results?(any long range tests)

Does he let you choose the twist rate?

Haven't shot it yet, Wayne will make recommendations for the best twist for your purpose, but he can do whatever you want.  I chose the 6.5 over the 260 due to the bigger case, a short action round like the 260 is a moot issue in a single shot. ;)

I talked to Wayne, the 35 Whelen Imp is a go, he's just been busy staying caught up on his work, give him a call.  ;)
