92 Handgun
« on: May 09, 2009, 04:57:43 AM »
In one of my favorite Candy Stores yesterday and there was a new 92 in 45 colt, 12" barrel and the stock cut off just after the the upsweep of the butt stock.  Color case receiver and Butt plate, cuter than a Playmate centerfold and almost as expensive at $1200.00.  Question is how do they get away with the 12" barrel and shortened stock with BATF?  I believe it was imported by LSI.  DP

The gun was never serialized as a rifle.  It was not "cut down" but rather was built in the configuration that you saw it from the beginning.  As such it's a handgun, not a short barreled rifle.

I was reading about those the other day. It's called the Mare's Leg Supposed to be a replica of the one Steve Mcqueen carried in Wanted Dead or Alive, excepting that it is not in .45/70 like the one in the movie.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

Neither was it as the M92 which it really was would not take a .45-70. It's kinda like in all those old westerns you see all those guys with the pair of bandaleros around them holding rounds that look nearly as long as a .50 BMG and none of them have a rifle that will take anything other than a handgun round. Ya just gotta make it look good in the movies.
