So how did everyone do?
« on: December 14, 2008, 02:58:45 AM »
I ended up with 12 geese and 9 ducks this season........not my best..... :D.
Due to the freezing weather, the marsh froze over early this year and our ducks headed for warmer climate. Our crop fields were not harvested untill most all the geese were gone.
But all in all,it was a good year, lots of comeraderie in the blinds.  ;)
 How did you do?

I am not bragging because you did ask.   ;D

To date we have 66 geese and 8 ducks.  The goose count is inflated by 30 due to a guided hunt we went to in Texas.  I did learn from that hunt that peanut fields ROCK for geese.

Only a few more weeks of goose hunting for me, then I switch to duck full time until the end of January.  Then back to goose for a few weeks in Feb.

Weather has been horrible for hunting and water is low.  Today it was 70 degrees that is correct 70!!!  Didn't even wear a coat for much of the morning.  We even killed a mosquito.   :o

Best hunt is below.  Not because of the number but because my son shot two of them:

our season opened 11/29, ive been in on 151 ducks so far. Got a band off of a greenhead, and one off of a woodie.  We are off to a great start, just hope it continues.

98 ducks and 30 geese with 3 weekends left.  Living in the Sacramento Valley means great opportunities for Waterfowl.

The goose number is skewed b/c of one massive kill on specks.

How many you allowed?  We only get one a day.

update

our season has slowed down considerably.  I'm up to 202 so far.   High water and warm temps has the ducks really scattered right now in west Tn.

Update - Up to 80 ducks after this morning.  Only one more day to go, which is depressing.  I was going to skip tomorrow and go to church but instead I think I will head out for a last try.

Side note - The last two to three weeks I have been OVERLOADED with pintails.  The limit is only one so I mostly just watch them fly but have not ever seen this many.  Usually this late it is only GW teal and green heads.

4 per person per day.

Season ended yesteday.  121 ducks and 30 geese.  I took my GMC to the dealership for a small recall item and was talking to the Service Dept Manager.  His 4 man pit blind has dumped 430ish ducks and 135 or so geese prior to this last weekend.  Before I asked him for the numbers he told me they just signed a 5 year lease for it and I was shocked why someone would sign a lease for so long, now I know why.  :o

This was my first season and I ended up with about 50 ducks and 8 geese. Not the best, but great times with with friends and food in the freezer. Can't beat it!

Yes Sir, triples are fun, especially considering this was my first one  ;D.

Saturday was DUCK DAY - meaning that I cooked all the duck breasts that were killed during the season. That was some fine eating....
