Re-chambering 45-70
« on: April 02, 2009, 06:23:47 AM »
Anybody ever hear of a 45-90 Magnum Research BFR?  I know it's not a Handi, but I ask this here because this group probably has more experience at rechambering than anybody else.  I have done some rough measurements and think that I can rechamber my BFR 45-70 to 45-90 as long as I use standard 405gr. RNFP.  The BFR cylinder is 3 inches long, and the 45-70 OAL is 2.55.  That gives me .45 inches of free cylinder chamber space.  Is this a stupid idea?

If you think you can hang on to it, go for it!

That seems in line with getting behind a mule and having him kick you.
