winchester 1500 xtr ?
« on: March 15, 2009, 10:22:20 PM »
shotgun cycles good, but looking at the bolt, gun empty, when you pulled the bolt back and let it go foward it seems slow and the bolt looks like , (to me) it needs to be another 1/8 inch foward to lock up, its a 2 3/4 inch only , like I said it may be me as I am new to semi-auto's this is my first, this is a used shotgun made between 1979 & 1982

                                                   Thanks copdills

Been a long time since I took a 1500 apart. However, the bolt is situated in a bolt carrier, the flat sideded part that holds the bolt. the bolt itself is round.  the bolt should rotate slightly as the bolt goes into battery, the bolt carrier sits a little proud of the front of the reciever. if you pull the operating handle back slowly and also control its forward motion while watching the bolt and carrier you should be able to see the bolt rotate. this is only a few degrees. if the bolt does not rotate you have a problem.  Is the barrel all the way back in the correct position, magazine cap tight?
