What factory ammo do you shoot?
« on: March 31, 2009, 08:50:51 AM »
For you that shoot the factory 38 special and 45 long colt, what brands do you shoot.  I realize a lot of you probably reload and that most guns have a preferance on there ammo, but I was wondering which ones do you recommend or have you used.  Thank you.

This year with 45 LC you either reload or you don't shoot.

Name brand commercial ammo (e.g., Winchester, etc.) is just way too expensive. There are a number of commercial reloaders out there that have the ammo for a considerably more reasonable price. Some will reload your brass for an even larger saving.

In regards to your comments, what would it cost me to get set up to reload.  If I would reload, I want to do it myself.  Thanks for you help.

Reloading is like anything, and whatyou choose is based on what you like and what your wallet can afford. I use all Lee. I have a breech lock loader that I use for reloading rifle calibers, a classic 4 position turret that I reload pistol calibers with and a Lee Load-All which I can use to load 12, 16 & 20 gauge shotgun. My set-up isn't a high end Dillon cranking out 1,000 rounds an hour, but I enjoy reloading and my time at the bench, so I do not need or want something like that. You're going to have to do some homework and see what you like & dislike, and find out what fits your budget. Good luck, FT
